temporary pop-up restaurant @ Tarwewijk, Rotterdam
“The way to a man’s heart is through the river” was the red thread for a six week pop-up restaurant in collaboration with a special location theater piece.
This has been one of our biggest projects, a rough 6 m wide x 12 m long x 5 meter high. Everything about this pop-up came from the harbour area and the river. From the metal shelves of the Bosman hangar that hold up the roof and the light that were made of old buoys, and from the seaweeds that were caught by Jan Kruijsse to the stew of fish that swam in the Wijnhaven.
As result of the social architecture of the pop-up, all guests had to collaborate. They had large pans and served each other, collected their own dishes and got drinks for each other. Narrowing down the freedom of movement to 50cm was a remarkably simple way to get people to become friends.
In collaboration with many of of our friends, suppliers and Kompanen.
